This first book of the series introduces Lulu, an adventurous dung beetle who likes to explore new things. Tutu, the baby elephant, “makes” Lulu a special banana treat. Lulu is excited to share this new food with her village, but she is not allowed to bring it in.
Later that night, Lulu and her sickly brother, Niko, sneak some of the banana dung. Niko loves it, and they decide to keep it a secret.
